Let’s Do Something New This Week: Smoothie Challenge!

Highlights of this weekend :-)

Highlights of this weekend 🙂

Hello My Fit and Fun Foodies,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was filled with great company, food, and not so much relaxation. I went to see one of my best friends in the lovely city of Brooklyn and we had a great time! We went out to a chic art mag event followed by ending the night with drinks and not so healthy but great food from Soco. The next day I started off the day right by going to Cornerstone and having delicious Steak and Eggs

. The rest of the day I went home and relaxed and today I enjoyed a great and spiritual day with my family.

This weekend I have learned that I have become wayyy more positive and upbeat about life. Who knew that make healthy and great life style choices can make you so much more happier and see a more positive outlook on life. This fitness and clean health journey has been something that I have fallen in love with. Its become almost an obsession and while I do have times where I am so tired I cannot even move, I still will force myself to have my workout. Dedication is key and I am happy to say that I am BEYOND dedicated to leaving a healthier and happier lifestyle.

This week what I would like to do is start a two week smoothie challenge. For two weeks I will have a smoothie for both breakfast and as a afternoon snack. They will be generally low carb smoothies, but there will be days where I indulge in a higher carb fruit. I also will limit my carb intake and eat loaded veggies with either chicken or fish on the daily. It will be fun and interesting to see where this will go but I will let you know how it goes and meanwhile I will posts my most favorite smoothie recipes!

The beauty of the bright lights…

…Twinkling in the night sky

The pours of a sweet beverage…

Temptations opening new inhibitions…

…Doors opening to a new beginning

Adventures yet to come…

Hope you all have an amazing friday night and a great St. Patrick’s Day weekend! Even though who cannot enjoy a lovely cocktail (Health Cleanse), I can dress up a water and still have fun haha!

Wet & Snowy New York Night (Instagram Photo)

I took this picture last night in the midst of the blizzard and posted in on
Instagram. This picture inspired me to post an old poem of mine called “Fear”. Hope you enjoy 🙂

Fear

Unsucessful
No family to count on
Friendless
Childless
Being alone
Losing oneself
Never being in love
This fear causing sleepless nights
Panic attacks
Not being able to really breath
Consuming my being
Whose to say it will not happen
Whose to say it will
Determination is all I have
The ability to save myself
But can I save myself
Or will these fears eat me alive
I have to move forward
Through the negativity
The self hatred
For the cross I carry
I have to have faith
Believe in not only God
But in me
For fear is my crutch

Hello My Adventurous Foodies!

I hope everyone had a great and fun weekend. My weekend was filled with some relaxation, productive cleaning, and spending time with some great friends. Nothing beats good food and great company and I have to say I had both this weekend! I finally had the chance to visit the restaurant Sugarcane in Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn, NY. (This post is especially for my New Yorkers who are into Caribbean food or looking for a new cuisine to embark, I strongly suggest trying Caribbean cuisine if you are into lots of flavors and an array of exotic herbs and spices, it is one of my FAVORITES!) My best friend who lives in Brooklyn has been raving about this restaurant for the longest time and I finally got the chance to see it with my own eyes and mouth (well so to speak LOL).

A couple of my friends and a fun journey up to brooklyn and was welcomed warmly with our hostess who had seated us in a comfy booth for 5 at the restaurant. The restaurant is small and cozy (resembles a upscale bistro) and the service was great.  Our server was extremely friendly and polite and we got our food quickly for a restaurant that was packed on a saturday night.

We started off with yummy and infamous Rum Punch which was STRONG yet tasty (DEFINETLY a must for Rum lovers, or someone who wants that immediate buzz).

We than all shared a sampler platter that showcase all their appetizers including their chicken and shrimp. The appetizers was delicious and it was gone in seconds!

We than all had different entrees. I was starving so I wanted something filling and when my best friend raved about their Rasta Pasta, I knew I had to have it! Rasta Pasta is a creamy pasta filled with delicious Caribbean spices with your choice of vegetables, chicken or shrimp. I had the chicken and I have to say I loved it.

Other items that I got to sample was the Jerk Chicken, Rice and Beans, Shrimp, Fried Plantains, and their Macaroni Pie. All were delicious and you can tell they were made from scratch. The food to me tasted just like if you were down in a local restaurant in the Caribbean and eating authentic Caribbean cuisine. We than finished with a sample of their desserts that included Chocolate Cake, Bread Pudding, Cassava, and Coconut Ice Cream.

In the end we split the bill between all of us (Gratuity is included for groups of 4 and up) and the check average per person was $49) I think this was great deal because not only did we each get a drink but also a appetizer, entree and a dessert.

The food overall was delicious and the service was great! It is refreshing to go into a restaurant like Sugarcane and enjoy a delicious and authentic meal in a great atmosphere. I definetly recommend Sugarcane to anyone who wants to try a new retaurant in Brooklyn. So if you are in the area and want to try something new, go to Sugarcane! You will not regret it 🙂
